This week in our meetings we talked about belly fat. Most of us are concerned about the belly fat we see but really we should be more concerned about the belly fat we can’t see called Visceral fat. I didn’t know much about visceral fat when I started this topic but have learned that visceral fat is the cushion fat around our major organs. We need some visceral fat but not as much as we think. So for health reason we should work on our visceral fat to see our belly fat shrink.
How do we get rid of visceral fat? Do we take a pill, exercise to excess or not eat certain foods? The answer for me is really simple. Let’s choose the foods mother nature gives us. Let’s get back to basics but remember it won’t happen overnight. There is no quick fix.
Food wise let’s eat the orange, grapefruit, apples, grapes and forget the juice. Think of eating more Vitamin C foods. Vitamin C is our fat burning friend. Vitamin C foods aren’t just in fruit but vegetables as well. Eat the lean meats, chicken, turkey, fish. Take in the oils and do them daily. Don’t freak, we need oils (fats) to burn fat. Drink that water and make it ice cold. Try the same with tea and try some green tea. More belly fat foods are cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, kale, bok choy, and cabbage. Other foods, dark chocolate, almonds, greek yogurt, red and green hot chili peppers, fresh herbs (thyme & parsley), oatmeal, peanut butter, berries, tomatoes, eggs.
Other ways to lose belly fat is sleep, short burst of exercise, and watch our sugar and refined carbohydrates. Plus look at removing some of our stress.
So as we look at all of these ideas and they may seem overwhelming right now remember start small and try one or two foods and one non-food ideas to help start removing that belly fat. Give yourself a good month and see what happens. The scale may not move but the inches may and inches around the belly really do make a difference.
I personally have been working on this method for a month and I am seeing slow but steady changes. Let me know your results as you work on this method.
